Animal Barn Supervisor/Team leader

Basic Job Description

This position requires a vibrant, outgoing person to play a pivotal role in the smooth running of our farm park operations. This person will help us to deliver a memorable customer experience to each guest, whether visiting with their family or as part of an organised group, by working at the forefront of our farm team while leading and organising the team. Being able to engage effectively with our guests is essential as well as a good communication with the team.

 

Typical Work Activities

  • Feeding
  • Cleaning – ensuring all areas are kept clean & tidy
  • Bedding
  • Handling
  • Washing down
  • Lamb/Calf Feeding and milking demonstrations using PA system
  • Assisting with lambing, calving etc
  • Upholding our exemplary standards of animal health & welfare
  • Using JCB Teleporter – after appropriate training
  • Driving/commentating the visitor tractor and trailer rides
  • Veterinary visits/ordering and using medication
  • Assisting in the building of sets, stages and displays for our many events
  • Co-ordinating Skyrider and Archery sessions alongside our activity team
  • Assisting in creating and amending farm rota.

 

Personal Skills

Flexible with an outgoing cheerful disposition, conscientious and the ability to “muck in” as part of a small team is essential.

You must be comfortable in front of a large audience, willing to help other team members as well as visitors and be able to work in an unsupervised environment and to supervise other members of the team.

You would ideally possess a basic level of animal husbandry knowledge, preferably backed up by a relevant qualification and/or experience within a similar setting.

Hours of Work

No less than 40 hours per week

Flexible to ensure the satisfactory completion of the job. General working hours are 8am to 5pm including working alternate weekends with some evenings and working on a regular rota.

 

Salary

£30,000+ per annum

This person will help us to deliver a memorable customer experience to each guest, whether visiting with their family or as part of an organised group, by working at the forefront of our activity team. Being able to engage effectively with our guests is essential as well as good communication with the team.

 

Typical Work Activities

Co-ordinating Skyrider and Archery sessions

Hosting games & activities for themed events

Helping maintain cleanliness of farm and park areas

 

Personal Skills

You must be comfortable in front of a large audience and be flexible with an outgoing cheerful disposition and the ability to “muck in” as part of a small team is essential.  Also, a friendly happy person, willing to help other team members as well as visitors.

Weekend/School Holiday Food Host

We are looking to appoint a group of confident, independent team members to work within our onsite busy seasonal catering outlets on weekends, in school holidays and some additional evenings too.

 

Typical work activities

Preparation of stock at the start of each shift

Keeping administrative & food hygiene records as and when required

Preparing and serving a variety of drinks, ice creams and snacks

Preparing, cooking and serving various food items from our menu

Assist in keeping the catering outlet clean, hygienic and tidy, at all times

Using general customer service skills

Processing transactions within our catering outlets

Restocking of the catering outlets

General housekeeping tasks

 

Personal Skills

Flexible with an outgoing cheerful disposition and the ability to “muck in” as part of a small team is essential.  A friendly, confident and happy person, willing to help other team members as well as visitors and able to work in an unsupervised environment for the majority of the time.

Experience is not essential but desirable

The normal hours of work are between 9am and 5.30pm with flexibility to ensure the satisfactory completion of the job.
